Recipes For Your Home Spa Pleasure

This time of year has always been synonymous with dry skin, and all the inconveniences that go along with it. Ask anyone and they will have their story of some flaky area they are trying persistently to keep under control!
Jennie's homemade Invigorating Sugar Scrub
This combination is the one I've been using on any area of skin
that has been affected by winter dryness, even on my face.

The home remedies listed here are compiled from ingredients that are most likely already in your cupboards, with the exception of some scented oils and proper coloring.
First on the list....

EXFOLIATING SCRUBS

1. The easiest, most basic, quickest, and extremely effective combination is baby oil and sugar, or baby oil and course salt. Works especially great on the toughest skin on your feet and ankles. You will be amazed at the difference it makes!

2. Sugar Spa Body Scrub
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup oil (almond is best, but any vegetable oil may be used)
  • Fragrance, if desired; essential oils work the best

3.Salt Body Scrub
  • 1/2 cup (sea salt is best)
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil (preferably almond)
  • Fragrance, if desired; 10 - 15 drops of essential oil

4. Baking Soda Scrub
  • Baking soda
  • Water
  • Essential oil if desired

5. Basic Oatmeal Facial Scrub
  • 2 teaspoons ground oatmeal
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • Water - do not use essential oils on your face, they may burn your eyes
6. Sweet Oatmeal Facial Scrub
  • 2 tablespoons finely ground oatmeal
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable or almond oil (almond is best)
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
Options:
Olive oil, vegetable oil, baby oil, and coconut oil
After you exfoliate and rinse your feet, and there is still a generous amount of the oil remaining on your skin, put some nice thick socks on to complete the moisturizing process.

Second on the list....
SOOTHING BLENDS FOR HEALING AND HYDRATING

1. Avocado Moisturizer
If you have dry skin and in desperate need of oil and moisture, mash 1/4 cup fresh avocado into a fine paste. Spread the paste evenly over your face and neck. Let the facial sit for about 10 minutes. Rinse with warm water and a washcloth to remove.

2. Mango Blend
The following recipe can be mixed and stored in the refrigerator for a week to 10 days. It can be used on your face or entire body. Use a Mason jar for storage (jars can be found at Walmart). Blend ingredients, starting with the mango and adding the rest in order; water, vinegar, honey, and then the cornmeal.
Ingredients
2 ripe organic peeled mangos
2 cups distilled water
2 teaspoons organic cider vinegar
2 tablespoons of organic honey
1/2 cup organic cornmeal

Soak in a hot tub of Epsom Salts and some drops of your favorite scent of essential oils. After about 15 minutes your skin will be primed for easy exfoliating.
