This One's For The Ladies

My Very Own Color Palette

Most women reading this will honestly admit (if only to themselves) that at one time or another, they have had a concern about their looks; their features, their height, their weight, their hairstyle, etc.
Most women will also admit that it depends on which measuring stick is used to ultimately define the beauty of a woman. To some, outward appearance plays a huge role, while to others, a sensitive and humble heart, accompanied by the sparkle in her eye and the warmth of her smile, is what reveals the beauty of a woman.

Considering the fact that no one has control over how they were made, many women might feel limited in how to carry themselves in a confident and comfortable way. There are some proven guidelines that help a woman enhance her natural color scheme and overall appearance. The following idea offers an easy tip on how to discover your very own color palette, and when applied, shows off your natural beauty from within!

All the colors on the color wheel can be classified as "warm tones" or "cool tones", including your skin tone. Warm tones all have a yellow base, and cool tones all have a pink or blue base. To discover if you are "warm" or "cool", follow these easy steps that will clearly emphasize which color range you fall into.

With no make up on, and hair pulled back (if you've colored your hair you don't want that color influencing this little test), take a piece of pure white clothing, or a large sheet of pure white paper, or a pure white pillow case, and hold it up under your chin. White represents all cool colors. Then, alternate with a piece of cream/khaki color clothing, paper or pillow case. Off white represents all warm colors. As you alternate back and forth you will notice one of the colors will make you look washed out and pale and dull, while the other color (the correct color) will bring out all the natural colors in your cheeks and your eyes and lips. One will distinctly stand out over the other.

Once that is determined, you can now choose clothing, hair color, lip color, nail color, jewelry and make up from the category that coincides and compliments your skin tones. I personally have cool undertones in my skin, therefore, I'm drawn to colors like, white, black, deep reds (reds with a blue base), magentas and purples, charcoal gray, gemstone blues, maybe some dark chocolate browns (browns with a blue base)..... and it doesn't go much beyond those! I do not own anything yellow, orange, green, or khaki because those colors have a very negative effect on my overall appearance. Colors like red, brown, and green can be warm or cool; having either a yellow or blue as their base, so be careful when selecting them.

BEAUTY TIPS
1. For attractive lips, speak words of kindness
2. For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people
3. For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry
4. For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day
5. For poise, walk with the knowledge you'll never walk alone
6. People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed and redeemed. Never throw out anybody. Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you'll find one at the end of your arm. As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands; one for helping yourself and one for helping others
7. The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty is reflected in her soul. It is the caring she lovingly gives and the passion she shows. And.... the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years

  2. Anne, This post is great. Sometimes I think I'm a warm color person, and then sometimes I feel like I'm a cool color person. I have shades of both in my closest (with brown and black predominating!) and makeup pouch.
